Great Fax Stuff

Call Center / FaxWave / Pagis Viewer

Actually, Now I Do!

When I upgraded my computer to Windows XP, I started using the built in Fax program that works like a charm. If you don't have that working for you look this over. I had great luck with it when I was using Windows 98.
I still use FaxWave and Pagis.

All of my office programs have this option:   File / Send To / Fax Recipient
I then spent time filling out the form, creating a cover sheet, previewing it,
checking that my Fax/Modem was properly installed, then sending.
I then spent even more time being frustrated and angry when it didn't work.
Then I found:

Click the Call Center panel to go to the Download Site

Go look at this program.   It is great.
V3 Call Center
sends and receives Faxes and answers your phone.
That is the free version.
The "professional" version, available to buy, seems like it would work for an office.
If you have a Fax/Modem that hasn't reached it's full potential, this program will help.
I love it.

Receiving Faxes

I found an even better solution for receiving.   Rather than leave the computer on all the time I signed up with FaxWave .   Most of you have heard of CallWave .   It's the answering system for dial-up modem connections so you can still get calls while you are on line.   They also have a service called FaxWave .   You are given a dedicated number that is yours alone .   As soon as a Fax is sent to that number, it is converted to an .xif file and sent to you as an E-Mail attachment.   The next time you check your E-Mail, there it is.   All of this from a service that is free if you only need to receive a couple of faxes a month.   If you need more than that you can sign up at a very reasonable rate and get unlimited use.   For more information and to sign up visit:
FaxWave
You can view FaxWave faxes with Windows Imaging, an application that comes pre-installed on most Windows 95 computers and ALL Windows 98,and newer, machines .

Pagis Viewer

My recommendation, however, is that you download this viewer from Xerox.   It is also free .
It reads the .xif files and also conveniently converts them to .tiff files, which is the other graphics format that CallCenter uses for document attachments.     For more information and to download Pagis Viewer
